The difference between Down and Feathers
Feathers make up the very outer layer of a bird and have hair like strands coming from a central quill.
Down is found beneath the feathers and on the birds’ belly. Down is light, fluffy and spherical in shape with
no quill. Although feathers have great natural insulating properties, they quickly flatten and loose their shape
causing the spiny quills to poke out of your bedding. Down is considerably more comfortable,
light weight, durable and long lasting.
Is Hungarian Goose Down bedding warmer?
Hungarian goose down is sourced from geese in the coldest parts of Hungary.
The colder the climate, the thicker the down will be. Hungarian geese have the thickest down,
offering the very best insulation.

But, why Hungarian Goose Down bedding?
If climate is the major factor in determining quality, why choose Hungarian over Siberian or
Canadian goose down? The answer… Size matters! Geese in Hungary tend to grow very large
and bigger geese produce higher quality down. The fewer down clusters required to fill a duvet
or a pillow, the higher its ‘fill power’. Hungarian geese have the largest down clusters, highest
fill power and large air pockets which boost insulation.
These factors combined make your Hungarian goose down duvet more resilient and
long-lasting while having a cosy, cloud-like luxury feel
Hungarian Goose Down is more Humane
The EU has strict rules on the treatment of animals so Hungarian goose down is sourced in a
completely humane and ethical manner. There are no farms that raise geese primarily for
down, there’s no plucking, trimming, or skinning of down from live birds and there are only two
ways of obtaining Hungarian goose down. It is either taken from the meat industry or
collected during the natural shedding that the birds go through as they age.
